How to put your business plan in real use
I wrote my own for my consulting firm Lemongrass books I have read and understood the sales forecast, .. and financial costs and projections of revenue when my company has become the Small Business Administration (SBA) 8a certified, have written our SBA Business Plan Form 1010c.
I am a strategic planner and AICP certified planner. In 1990, I actually worked as a planner of management improvement programs, transportation, capital improvement programs, and plans for global development. These are the plans mega project-oriented. I coordinated the City of Atlanta 1997 Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) and its accompanying Capital Improvement Program (CIP), which represents 400 projects worth 0.6 billion dollars. I also managed the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Transportation [Environmental] Enhancement Activities (TEA) program was offered 90 projects worth millions of euro. What I learned as a planner is that the plans can be very pie in the sky. Wish lists can be rather elaborate policies to appease constituents. These types of plans rarely implemented because there will never be enough money to finance the proposed projects. As an entrepreneur, I learned that the plans must be divided into more realistic and doable action items that translate into real returns on investment (ROI) and generate real revenue, so that real wages can be drawn. Here are some tips: (1) Your sales forecast is just that – a forecast is not set in stone and will probably not correspond to actual sales begins with reasonable assumptions and adjust as the reality sets in your actual sales may be less than this is … usually the case. However, you can have great luck and actual sales may exceed projected sales. (2) If after, periodic reviews online, actual sales are significantly lower than expected sales you want, then you may want to redesign your business model, sales coaching to get help, or do some other course of action to increase sales. (3) Start-up should start with short-term business plan that represents your sales targets and costs paid in quarterly increments of about 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 12 months. (4) For the purpose of having a long-term vision, create a vision of 3 or 5 years with annual sales targets and anticipated expenses. (5) The objectives of the business plan should be used to influence your decision as to conduct business operations from day to day. Here’s how No 5 would work. You could simply put a drop of sales of the business plan estimates and projected budget expenditure on the desktop as a constant daily reminder where to guide your ship. Take this summary financial and operating the actual performance against Gage for example, if you need to decide whether to spend money to hire a staff person or consultant;. or to order some equipment or supplies, then look over to first ask yourself if your business plan. proposed expenditure is in line with the plan. Ask yourself if you take on this particular consulting project or a new product, sales order catapult you closer to sales targets and profit. Some may argue that business plans should not be at the center of operations. I beg to differ. I think the project should be right in front of you. In my opinion, is similar to a simple daily to-do “list. For example, on any given day you can list that you need to go to the post office, the office supply store, for some meetings, send some emails, do some data entries, etc. This is your road map. If you have been able to do everything, you would have a sense of accomplishment. A business plan is no different. You look over your business plan and leave the driving and drive business decisions in order to achieve concrete results. Another thing I learned as a planner is that it is important to get buy-in. In order to decide whether to include a project in a CDP and its CIP, urban planning professionals hold public meetings to obtain feedback. Business owners should also get input from individuals who may need buy-in. Internally, the management team must ensure that business has an opportunity to comment on sales and budgetary projections. This can be a great way to get a dose of reality from different perspectives. Externally, business owners can apply to nonprofit organizations or other consultants that help small business and have dealt with the bankers that lending to small businesses. Cash is the king! If you start a business, you should first save. I have heard and read two different schools of thought when I started years ago. Some argue that you do not need money to start and .. make money that may be true for some, but I can tell you there are very real costs, if you want to go into business the right way to be professional: telephone, fax, website hosting, graphic design, office supplies, domain registration name, all taxes. Taxes can be crushed. This brings us to the second school of thought is to save first. I heard that it is better to save 3 months, 6 months or 1 year of your company the cost of running before you launch. The idea is not to be dependent on sales to all. But rather, they have savings to invest in your business venture. If you could do it again, I would have saved while building my net widely reporting and client base. Of course, hindsight is 20:20. I was in the city of Atlanta Watershed Department Small Business Development Program. The coach has advised us of our bank accounts and customer payments to reduce ourselves to pay checks. But, he advised that we should put our paychecks in a drawer and forget about them. This will build up money in your account the bank’s commercial and help you gain creditability so that you can later obtain lines of credit and loans. Well, what if you were a single mom? What if you really need money paycheck? I am a single mom and this tactic has never worked for me. If you do not pre-plan your implementation plans, and probably makes it pure luck. We’ve all heard people state that business success is 90% luck. Well, actually it should not be. We can choose to project and a work plan, or choose to leave our future in the hands of Lady Luck.
